Historic Fairview Cemetery: THE Place to be Buried in Albuquerque since 1881

In 1880, the railroad came to Albuquerque, prompting an era of growth in New Mexico. The population boomed. People came here to pursue opportunities. People lived, people died, and starting in 1881, people were buried in what would become Fairview Cemetery on the sandy mesa east of New Town Albuquerque. There are approximately 12,000 people buried in 17.5 acres. Come take this tour to learn about selected founders of the city and state who are “permanent residents” in the cemetery.
