AGS welcomes Lisa Louise Cooke!

Lisa Louise Cooke

The census is the backbone of genealogical research. Here in the United States it gives us a cohesive look at our ancestors every 10 years between 1790 and 1940. And now there is a new census on the horizon! The 1950 census is an exciting one because it may include your great great parents, grandparents, parents and perhaps even you! It will provide opportunities to confirm some of what we already know and clues for new research.

Lisa Louise Cooke is the Producer and Host of the Genealogy Gems Podcast, an online genealogy audio show at www.GenealogyGems.com that has been downloaded over 3 million times, and Elevenses with Lisa on the Genealogy Gems YouTube channel.

She is the author of popular books such as The Genealogist’s Google Toolbox Second Edition, Mobile Genealogy, and How to Find Your Family History in Newspapers, and the Google Earth for Genealogy video series. An instructor and podcaster for Family Tree Magazine, she also authors the magazine’s monthly Lisa’s Picks column.

She is a sought-after keynote speaker and presenter and has been featured at conferences and seminars such as Who Do You Think You Are? Live in London, RootsTech, and the National Genealogical Society Conference.

Summer Stories

August 10, 2022 | 10:30 AM to 12:00 Noon | Hybrid Event | FREE to AGS members and non-members

For many years, we have had an annual storytelling meeting where we can share our accomplishments with like-minded family researchers. Since many of us are in families who are not enthusiastic about family history research, we need to take time to listen, encourage, help, rejoice, or sympathize with each other. We will divide into small groups that allow everyone to tell of their recent genealogical adventures. And we’ll also collect ideas for next year’s programs.
