AGS Monthly Meeting & Program: Veterans’ Voices

Join us for a short business meeting, followed by a presentation by AGS member Stuart Murray.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: In May 1944, six young men at age 17 left Albuquerque High School before graduation to join the Navy. Being under age, they would have had to ask their parents’ permission to enlist. Their parents’ decision to let their sons go in harms way must have weighed heavily on them, but WW2 was being fought on two fronts. These six individuals went to Santa Fe and enlisted in the US Navy and would go on to serve and be honorably discharged at the end of WW2. This program will look at where they served and what happened when they returned to civilian life.

This event is currently scheduled as a HYBRID EVENT. Come join us, either in person at the Albuquerque Main Library, Genealogy Center on the 2nd floor (see LOCATION information on the right), or online (see link below to register).

After filling out the registration form, you will receive an email confirming your registration. PLEASE NOTE the ‘Passcode’ at the bottom of the confirmation email which you will need in order to sign in to the Zoom meeting.
