Meet our new AGS Treasurer for 2025!

Let me introduce all of you to our new Treasurer, RJ Korbach.

We will be in good hands with RJ. He is Professor Emeritus of Financial Economics at the University of North Dakota, and he taught at the Nistler School of Business there for 25+ years. During two leaves of absence, he taught for Boston University’s Overseas MBA program in Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium. Later he was awarded two Fulbright Grants to teach Money and Banking in Albania and Moldova as they made the switch to becoming capitalist economies. And on top of all that, we can rest easy knowing that if should he come across an accounting issue he isn’t sure about (which we seriously doubt), his wife is a retired CPA with extensive auditing experience.

His interest in genealogy began in the late 1960s, switching from paper to desktop in the early 1990s. He did his first Y and Mitochondrial DNA tests in about 2007 – and now has 90 trees on Ancestry!

RJ joined the Bear Canyon Genealogy Group in 2009 where he and the late John Farris regularly gave talks on the use of DNA in genealogy. He later chaired Bear Canyon Genealogy Group until the pandemic ended the operation, whereupon he joined AGS.

And we’re so glad he did. Welcome to the Board, RJ!
