The Albuquerque Genealogical Society Military Research SIG welcomed Scott G. Hibbard, author of Beyond the Rio Gila, historical fiction about the Mormon Battalion. His presentation focused on the enlistment of the 500 Mormon men and their march from Iowa to Fort Leavenworth through New Mexico, Arizona, and to San Diego during the Mexican–American War.
