Meet our new AGS Vice President for 2025!

Please allow me to introduce you to our new Vice President for 2025, Hazel Thornton.

Hazel is a retired professional organizer and the author of three books, including Go With the Flow! (The Clutter Flow Chart Workbook) and Hung Jury: The Diary of the Menendez Juror.

She helped clients declutter their homes and offices and create their ideal schedules. But it was photo organizing that rekindled her love of genealogy research. She also became interested in end-of-life matters, which included downsizing and making decisions now, so your loved ones won’t have to later. These interests all dovetailed in the form of her book, What’s a Photo Without the Story? How to Create Your Family Legacy.

Hazel’s experience includes three decades – off and on – of genealogy research; 17 years of organizing clients’ stuff, space, time, and pedigree charts; degrees in mechanical engineering, drafting, and fine arts; and more than 20 years as a technology planner at a large telecommunications company.

She lives with her cat, Ziggy, and, for 15 years, on Tuesdays, while AGS members were doing research on the second floor, she was in the basement sorting and pricing children’s books for the Friends of the Library book sales.

Most of her ancestors immigrated to America from the British Isles in the 1600s. The most intriguing ones (so far) include Quakers, loyalists, slaveholders, and that one 3rd great-grandfather who went to the gold rush and was never heard from again.

Welcome to the AGS Board, Hazel!
