Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) concentrate on research in specific areas or countries such as Writing, Celtic, Military, and DNA.  New SIGs will be created upon sufficient interest and leadership.

All attendance is free and your contribution to these groups is greatly encouraged.

AGS Writing and Publishing SIG:

Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month from 10:30 am to Noon in the Main Library on the second floor. If available, the meetings will be in the board room (entrance door is between the stairwell and the elevators); otherwise they will be in the northeast corner of the genealogy center.

Please note that this group does not meet in December and January.

The purpose of this SIG is to share techniques and encourage and mentor AGS members in publishing their genealogy research. Information on the Group is posted on the AGS Facebook page (Group: Albuquerque Genealogical Society) and the WordPress Blog

Celtic SIG

Meetings will be held on the last Tuesday of the month in conjunction with the Albuquerque Genealogical Society Research Days from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm at the Main Library, 2nd floor Genealogy Center. The meetings are held in the northeast corner of the genealogy center.

DNA SIG

The DNA SIG meets in the Main Library on the second floor from 10:30 am to Noon simultaneous with the regularly scheduled AGS Research Day held from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm on the last Tuesday of each month (except December). Starting in January 2019, the SIG will instead meet on the first Thursday of each month. If available, the meetings will be in the board room (entrance door is between the stairwell and the elevators); otherwise they will be in the northeast corner of the genealogy center.

Military Research SIG

Meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of the month 10:30 am to Noon in the Main Library on the second floor. If available, the meetings will be in the board room (entrance door is between the stairwell and the elevators); otherwise they will be in the northeast corner of the genealogy center.

Research Consultants

DAR/SAR Research

Help can be found on the last Tuesday or third Saturday of the month in conjunction with the Albuquerque Genealogical Society Research Days at the Main Library, 2nd floor Genealogy Center. See AGS Research Days on the AGS Events Page for times and dates.

You may contact DAR Specialist Victoria Sullivan or SAR Specialist John Farris. Both Victoria and John are familiar with SAR lineages. (Or consult your Membership Directory for telephone contacts.) John Farris has also donated several books to the Genealogy Center containing SAR members and/or ancestors.
