DESCRIPTION:Join us for a short business meeting, followed by a presentation by Henrietta Martinez Christmas.\nPROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Beginning in 1598, the Colonial Southwest began settlements of villages along the RioGrande River. Housed primarily at the State Level, researchers must rely onRecord Groups, archives, libraries and private collections.Branching out from waterways, using the camino real and relying on the Church –researchers will learn some history of the area(s), genealogical tips and where to focus theirresearch up to 1821. Connecting many varied documents to tell a story or find thegenealogical links they need to further their research. Land grants, church records, archivalmaterials, military records, censuses, wills and much more.\nSpeaker Bio: Henrietta Martinez Christmas, a native New Mexican, a well-known genealogical andhistorical researcher; she descends from eleven of the soldiers that came with Oñate in 1598.She has authored several books which relate to New Mexico's small towns and history and over130 articles mostly about New Mexico's Colonial Families.
